Hot Property 🏡
I have a feeling that this property has been on the market and has been in Notts Going On before — but it’s super cute, so here is is (maybe again!). This four-bedroom cottage in Bunny is the oldest property in the village. It sits opposite the historic church, for the quaintest views possible. Inside, you’ll find a lovingly-refurbished interior, including a living room with a wood-burning stove, a snug with space for an elevated library, and a kitchen with cream and gold cabinetry and black wooden beams. The guide price is £1.1m and it’s marketed by Rex Gooding. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞
🪺 New discovery: Red kites have been spotted nesting at Sherwood Forest for the first time ever. The once-extinct in England birds of prey were among a number of species observed by wildlife rangers in its annual “creature count,” which also rare butterflies, otters and bats. The discovery of the birds has been considered a “significant record” for the county. bbc.co.uk
⚽ A fresh start: Sean Dyche is the new head coach of Nottingham Forest. The former youth player was appointed on a deal until 2027 following the departure of Ange Postecoglou. Dyche, who lives locally and has often been spotted at Rock City, spoke of a need to unify fans, said he is “pleased and proud” to return to the club, and pointed to former managers Steve Cooper and Nuno Esprito Santo as examples of how quickly things can improve at the Reds.
Scores on the Doors 🏆
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest won their second game of the season in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge, beating a strong Porto side in the Europa League. Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus both scored penalties in what was a much more convincing performance than has recently been seen at the City Ground. The Reds did however fall to a 2-0 defeat away at Bournemouth, showing that there is still work to be done, with Forest sitting 18th in the Premier League.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town drew 1-1 at home to Wigan Athletic, with Will Evans on the scoresheet. The Stags put a lot of late pressure on, but couldn’t find a late winner, leaving them 8th in League One.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County drew 2-2 away at Swindon in midweek before a fine 2-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Cambridge at Meadow Lane. Notts will also be pleased to see Alassana Jatta continuing last season’s form, with the Gambian up to five goals for the season.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers secured a place in the Challenge Cup Elimination Game with a shootout win over Coventry Blaze, before falling to a 4-1 defeat away to Cardiff Devils.
🏏 Cricket
Nottinghamshire confirmed the contract extensions of Championship-winning captain Haseeb Hameed and T20 captain Joe Clarke last week.
