How Nottingham designers made an impact on ‘80s fashion across the world
It’s no secret that Nottingham’s fashion and textiles scene is world-famous. But did you know that it had a huge moment during the ‘80s? Throughout this decade, a wonderful mixture of designers began creating and selling out of the city.
Mother’s Day 💐
6 of the best Mother's Day events around Nottingham — from crafternoons to afternoon teas
The daffodils are blooming and the sun is starting to shine… oh yes, March is definitely here. One of the main events this month is Mother’s Day — and there are plenty of lovely ways to celebrate this around Nottingham.
Hot Property 🏡
Any house with a balcony is a winner in our books — and this four-bedroom home in Woodborough has one that’s huge and offers soaring views of the countryside. Take a peek at picture 21 — anyone else imagining al fresco dining out there? Inside you’ll find rustic exposed brickwork combined with contemporary fittings throughout. This is especially stunning in the cosy living room, thanks to the multi-burning stove. The property is marketed by Emma Terry, which is accepting offers in the region of £725k. rightmove.co.uk

News 🗞
🌱 Flower power: The Nottingham crocus flower is getting help to flourish, with The Green Guardians clearing dead bracken to help it thrive. This is because it has been in decline for years due to the changing environment. The lilac flower can be seen at beauty spots such as the University of Nottingham's Park campus, the Arboretum, and Wollaton Park. Get in touch with the Nottingham Green Guardians if you’d like to volunteer to help. bbc.co.uk / nottinghamgreenguardians.co.uk
🍽️ Food with flair: Observer reviewed Restaurant Sat Bains and interviewed the man himself, delving into his lighthearted yet innovative approach to fine dining. We loved the look of the pizza being cooked outside in the greenhouse. He told the publication: “I always believe food should look good, but taste better.” The Michelin-starred restaurant is definitely one of the best restaurants in Nottingham. observer.com
Scores on the doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest Women lifted the National League Cup with a 3-1 victory over Stoke City. A Charlie Wellings brace and a goal from Caragh Hamilton saw Carly Davies’ side lift the trophy for the second time in three years. The netball side finally made their home Super League bow, beating Cardiff Dragons 70-54. Morgan Gibbs-White didn’t feature for England in their 2-0 win over Albania on Friday, but is included for tonight's game against Latvia.
🐦 Notts County
The Magpies played out a goalless draw at home to Crewe Alexandra. The hosts could feel aggrieved not have been awarded at least one penalty, although they lacked a cutting edge without Alassana Jatta and Jodi Jones.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers’ remarkable run continued with a fine 3-0 win over Glasgow Clan, with netminder Jason Grande starring with a 36 shot shutout. The Panthers are 3rd in the Elite League, two points off top spot with a home clash against Manchester Storm coming on Wednesday.
