Nottingham March events — 10 things to do this month
Theatre shows, crafternoons, plant fairs, and more...
Spring has most certainly sprung — and if you want to head out into the sunshine, there are plenty of events happening in Nottingham this March.
I’ve rounded up a mixture of events from across the city and county — from drone shows to Mother’s Day crafternoons, there really is something for everyone. I’ve narrowed these down based on how different they are to other events in the area and if they’re good value for money.
For those looking for 2025 events or things to do in Nottingham, these activities are all getting in the calendar and going out to. To read more articles like this, subscribe to The Notts Edit to receive our pieces in your inbox for free — including our weekly Notts Going On guide.
10 things to do in Nottingham this March
By Eve Smallman
1. Nottingham 10K
When: March 9
Where: Starts at Old Market Square
How much: From £31pp
This annual 10K is a staple in the local running calendar. The race begins at Old Market Square, before travelling along Mansfield Road and then reaching Nottingham Girls High School. From here, you'll head right back down south. The whole race finishes at Nottingham Castle, which is surrounded by plenty of pubs, bars, and restaurants to recover in.
Do if: You're looking for an excuse to get moving and/or would like to raise some money for a local charity.
2. Showstopper! The Improvised Musical
When: March 12
Where: Mansfield Palace Theatre
How much: £27pp
Coming in hot from a run at the West End, this show blends together musicals, comedy, and spontaneity. A brand new show is created for each performance, with plenty of drama, dance routines, and catchy melodies. Whatever the audience suggests goes — so get creative with what you shout out. Hamilton in the hospital… Grease in the grocery store… the options are endless (…you can probably come up with better ones than these).
Do if: You like the idea of seeing something you never have before or will ever again.

3. Mid Life
When: March 13
Where: Lakeside Arts, Beeston
How much: £16pp
This show sold out venues across the UK a few years ago — and now it's back again, rewritten and revamped. It draws its themes from real-life experiences of women in midlife and will end with a joyful dance party for all to join in. Tickets are down to the final few, so make sure to be speedy if you want to see this.
Do if: You want to understand or do understand the pains of menopausal life.
4. Ben Portsmouth: This is Elvis
When: March 15
Where: Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham
How much: £37.50pp
With global success in over 20 countries — including sell-out performances on the same Vegas stage as Elvis — Ben Portsmouth's performance as the King promises to be a dazzling experience. He'll be playing a mix of songs from his distinct eras, including the 1950s, the iconic ’68 Comeback Special, and the 1970s Vegas concerts. He will be joined by the Taking Care of Elvis band.
Do if: You've always wished you could have seen Elvis — fans say this is as close as you'll ever get to the real deal.

5. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Drone Light Show
When: March 15
Where: Trent Bridge, West Bridgford
How much: £23pp adult, £18pp child
Escape to the magical world of Oz during this enchanting light show. The classic tale will be brought to life with drones, which will illuminate the night sky. This will be accompanied by narration and an immersive soundtrack. Gates will open two hours before the show starts at 7.15pm, so you can grab a bite to eat from the food village and get settled before it begins. If you’re travelling in, you can either get a bus from the railway station or book parking in advance.
Do if: You’re looking for a magical evening the whole family will enjoy.
6. Spring Plant Hunters Fair
When: March 16
Where: Thoresby Park, Newark
How much: Free entry, £3 car parking
The grand Thoresby Park is a stunning location for walking around and finding beautiful flowers and shrubs. All the plants available will have been grown by specialist nurseries, and there will be a great range of perennials, spring bulbs, old heritage varieties and more. Experts will also be on hand to give you advice on the right plants to grow for your outdoor situation.
Do if: You'd love to make a start on making your garden look beautiful.
7. St Patrick’s Day
When: March 17
Where: Old Market Square, Nottingham
How much: Free entry
Celebrate the city’s vibrant Irish scene old and new by heading down to this vibrant event, which will host a range of different Irish and Irish-inspired live music and culture. Highlights will include Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Nottingham (1.40pm), the Glendarragh School of Irish Dance (3.10pm), and The Killarneys (3.25pm). Afterwards, you could go up to Katie O’Brien’s to continue the festivities.
Do if: You’re looking for something fun to do on your lunch break (or an excuse for a day off!).
8. Howells Hymnus Paradisi & Elgar Cello Concerto
When: March 22
Where: Albert Hall, Nottingham
How much: £19pp-£22pp
This renowned choir is performing Hymnus Paradisi by Herbert Howells — one of the pinnacles of the choral repertoire, but that is only rarely performed. At 6.45pm there will be a 20-minute pre-concert talk about the programme. I interviewed Nottingham Harmonic Choir’s director Richard Laing before Christmas, and I found the choir fascinating and the music enchanting, so I definitely recommend going.
Do if: You’d like to mix up your listening with a different kind of music.

9. Beer Debunked: Nottingham
When: March 29
Where: Various venues around Nottingham
How much: £15pp per event
Female beer enthusiasts No Half Measures are hosting this evening filled with events perfect for those interested in learning about and tasting beer. Beverage trying wise, there will be a Tasting with Natalya Watson at The Barley Twist and a Tasting with BarthHaas X at The Newshouse (both at 5pm). There is also an afterparty which is free for ticket holders or £5pp on the door. Any proceeds from the event will go towards charity partner Nottingham Women’s Centre.
Do if: You’d like to discover new delicious drinks and learn about how to taste the right beer for you.
10. Mother’s Day at Debbie Bryan
When: March 28-30
Where: Debbie Bryan, city centre and Ruddington Village
How much: From £13pp
Debbie Bryan has lots of lovely workshops throughout the year — and its Mother’s Day events are lovely examples of what it offers. In its city centre location, it will have a candle painting crafternoon, a mini garden crafternoon, and ceramic bunny painting. Or, if you just want to sit down with a cup of tea and a slice of something sweet, you can choose from a cakery, afternoon tea, and cream tea. Meanwhile, in Ruddington Village, it will be running the same candle and garden workshops, as well as a dried flower embroidery afternoon.
Do if: You’re looking for a different, special way to treat yourself or your mum.
