Hot Property 🏡
Love cosy interiors, but also love a touch of elegance? This four-bedroom detached home in Calverton is a lovely option. Inside, you’ll find an adorable entryway, a welcoming living room with a fireplace, and a kitchen with a bric-enclosed oven. We also love the wooden beams across the ceilings throughout, which add serious warmth and depth. This was reduced in price last week to £500k and is marketed by Yopa. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞
🎭 Making an impression: James Graham’s Punch has been going down a treat in London, with its opening week at the Young Vic earning it glowing reviews in TimeOut and The Guardian. It follows the true story of Nottingham teenager Jacob, who threw a single punch with fatal consequences. The Nottingham Playhouse production will also be hitting Broadway this autumn, which will be directed by the theatre’s artistic director Adam Penford. timeout.com / theguardian.com
😎 In style: Star Nottingham Forest player Morgan Gibbs-White featured in GQ last Friday. He chatted with the magazine about helping re-invent the club, as well as his evolving fashion taste. The interview took place in Nottingham, where he called the city “a real warm place.” It’s a wonderful long-read and it’s not behind a pay-wall. gq-magazine.co.uk
👏 In demand: And speaking of Morgan Gibbs-White — he was called up to the England squad on Sunday night. The 25-year-old was part of England's Under-21 Euros winning team in 2023 and made the first of his two senior appearances last September. bbc.co.uk
Scores on the doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Forest tightened their grip on a Champions League place with a comfortable 4-2 win at Ipswich Town, with Anthony Elanga bagging a brace with Jota Silva and Nikola Milenković also on the score sheet for Nuno Espírito Santo’s 50th game in charge. Forest sit 3rd and six points clear of 5th place. Forest Women secured bragging rights with a 2-0 home win over Derby, while the netball team got their Super League season under way, though they fell to a 73-51 defeat against London Pulse.
🦌 Mansfield Town
The Stags ended their dismal run of form with a 2-1 win over Barnsley on Saturday, avoiding a club record equalling 14 winless games by overcoming the Tykes at Field Mill. Deji Oshilaja scored the decisive late goal, with Town putting a “non-league level” performance against Exeter behind them to leave manager Nigel Clough feeling “relieved.”
🐦 Notts County
Notts County continued to be frustratingly inconsistent in League Two, notching a fantastic away win over Grimsby in midweek before falling to defeat at home to local rivals Chesterfield in an entertaining encounter. Will Jarvis scored a late goal that looked to have secured at least a point for the Magpies, but Chesterfield found a winner to secure 3 points for the away side.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers scored THIRTEEN goals in one of their finest weekends of the Elite League season. Saturday night’s 4-1 away win against Manchester Storm was impressive enough, before blowing away Fife Flyers 9-3 at the Motorpoint Arena, with five goals in the first period. The Panthers now sit 3rd in the league with 66 points.
