No one does romance better than the French, right? Get a taste of the city of love at Le Mistral, a quaint bistro on Mansfield Road in Sherwood. The menu offers authentic French dishes including the traditional coq au vin, a classic moules mariniere and a delicious chicken and bacon fricassee.
Le Mistral also has vegetarian and vegan dishes, including an indulgent beetroot and lentil bourguignon and a plant-based burger. As well as this, the bar has an authentic collection of French beers and wines.
Do if: You want to go down the classic, candlelight dinner route.
2. Pizza Punks

This rocking pizza place in the Lace Market is a chilled-out spot for a Valentine's date, which will not only impress with its trendy interior, but with its pizza choices. You can build your own with unlimited toppings or choose from the classic menu if you like to have it all done for you.
Scouting out deals specifically for Valentine’s Day? It will also be offering a ‘Valentine’s Cheap Date’ February 13-15 all day each day, which includes two heart-shaped pizzas and two cocktails for £30.

3. Taylor’s Fine Dining

For those wanting to truly dazzle their dates, go for the sophisticated ambience and artistic menu at Taylor’s Fine Dining. It has the finest of a five-course set menu, offering bread for the table (always a tick), along with a choice of starters, an appealing main course, tasty desserts, and petit fours for afterwards. Expect sophisticated dishes such as sirloin steak with pomme anna and flavourful curried plaice fillet.
It also does small plates such as prawn and partridge ravioli and caramelised onion tart, for those who like a little bit of everything. Plus, Taylor’s offers a wine list filled with merchants from Newark and beyond, to pair alongside your meal.

It’s in the name — Sexy Mama Love Spaghetti is a cosy Italian with a sensually scrumptious menu that offers handmade and heartfelt recipes. The Sexy Mama Love Spaghetti menu often changes, allowing for a wide variety of flavours and spins on traditional Italian dishes.
The independent Italian includes a pleasant interior, classic pasta dishes, and a wonderful selection of wine, making for a casual yet classy dinner date. Outside, the artistic area of Hockley offers plenty of bars to cap off your romantic evening with.
