News 🗞️
🍕 Slice of the pie: Peter Pizzeria has announced it’s opening the doors of its Nottingham branch in August. It will be located on Pepper Street, inside the Grade II listed former bank. It’s set to bring together casual English pizzeria vibes with heavy Italian influences and the very best Neapolitan-style pizza made from ingredients sourced locally or from Italy. It has locations in Loughborough and Leicester and is an independent brand, making it an especially great one to go out and support. peterpizzeria.co.uk
🏏 All out: England and the West Indies concluded their four-day test match at Trent Bridge on Sunday, July 21, with England winning by 241 runs. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s Ben Duckett scored 71 and 76, while Joe Root, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook all made centuries. On Thursday the Stuart Broad end was officially unveiled, named after the bowler who is Nottinghamshire’s most successful on the international stage. His father Chris, who is club president and former Notts and England opener, said, “To have an end named after him is a complete delight.” bbc.co.uk / trentbridge.co.uk
🚲 Wheelly good: The Tour of Britain, which hosts 100 of the world's top road cyclists, is coming to the East Midlands on September 6. This leg of the race will go from outside the Derby arena and finish in Newark-on-Trent. It is the first time that the tour has gone through Derby and the fifth time it has gone through Nottinghamshire. East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward told the West Bridgford Wire: “Events like the Tour of Britain are key to helping our visitor economy thrive and showcase, to a significant international audience, all that Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have to offer.” westbridgfordwire.com
⚽ Up for sale: Nottingham City Council formally agreed on Tuesday, July 16 to make the land the City Ground stands on available for sale. Cllr Neghat Khan told the Local Democracy Reporting Service they have “done everything” to get the deal done. Nottingham Forest has previously said that any purchase would be conditional on them securing planning permission for larger stadium capacity, hospitality spaces, and real estate development, so the saga hasn’t ended just yet. nottstv.com
Hot Property 🏡
Bringing together luxuriousness and cosiness, this four-bedroom farmhouse in Hucknall looks like a dreamy family home. If you’re looking to move into your new house without lifting a finger, this could be the perfect place, thanks to its modern fittings and finishes throughout. My favourite room has to be the open plan kitchen diner, which has a huge island and doors that open up outside. Here, you can find a spacious patio and a sprawling lawn, while out front there is a large driveway with gated access. The guide price is £600k and it’s marketed by HoldenCopley. rightmove.co.uk
