What’s On 🗓️
Lumini Daedalite 🌟
When: October 20-23
Where: Sneinton Market
How much: £4.85pp, £3.93 family ticket
Set up on Sneinton Market Square, this ‘baby brother’ to Architects of Air’s giant Luminaria is aglow with soothing lights and bright colours until Thursday. Inside, you’ll find a rainbow-coloured tree, relaxing pods to sit in, and a 600-piece patterned ceiling inspired by the Pantheon of Rome. Warm, thick socks are recommended, as you’ll be required to take your shoes off to enter.
Do if: You’re looking for something different to do on your lunch break, or with the family if you’re in town for half-term.
Bramley Apple Festival 🍏
When: October 25
Where: Southwell Minster
How much: £3pp suggested donation, under 16s free
Whether you like them in cider, pies, or simply as they come, apples are a tasty treat — and our own variety is being celebrated during this fun festival. There will be these and more inside Southwell Minster, with food and drink including chutneys, chocolates, and pickles. There will also be a demo kitchen with experts showcasing how to create delicious treats.
Do if: You’d like to indulge in our county’s history — the first ever Bramley apple tree was planted in Southwell in 1809.
Eureka Day 🎭
When: October 25-November 17
Where: Nottingham Playhouse
How much: From £14.50pp
In the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, Eureka Day Elementary School is an institution that prides itself on being welcoming. But, friendships are challenged when an outbreak of mumps reveals that not everyone is on board with the school’s vaccine policy. See how this progressive paradise crumbles, all while having plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. This is the regional premiere of Jonathan Spector’s play.
Do if: You’d love to see a Tony Award-winning show right here in Nottingham.
Bromley House Tour 📚
When: October 26
Where: Bromley House Library, Nottingham
How much: £10pp adult, £6pp child
Did you know that just beyond Old Market Square is one of the most beautiful libraries in the country? It’s not usually open for viewing, but you can see it for yourself during this tour. The library’s guides will be on hand to show you through each room, tell you about members from the house, and point out historic features. If the weather holds up, the garden outside is also a beautiful spot to discover.
Do if: Walking around a lovely library on an autumn afternoon sounds wonderful to you.
Halloween / Samhain Nature Celebration 🌲
When: October 26
Where: Rushcliffe Country Park, Nottingham
How much: £27.80pp
Head into the private woodlands of Rushcliffe Country Park for a spellbinding afternoon of autumnal fun and relaxation. The event will be split into three sections — a guided folklore in the forest walk with spooky stories, forest bathing finished with freshly-foraged tea, and Halloween nature crafts. Be sure to bring your own mat, blanket, and mug.
Do if: You’d like to try a different yet mindful Halloween activity.

Scores on the Doors 🏆
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have parted company with Ange Postecoglou following a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea. The Australian departs without a win in any of his eight games in charge and his 39 day tenure is the shortest of any permanent Premier League manager.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town beat Luton 2-0 away from home to move to 9th in League Two. Rhys Oates and Tyler Roberts were on the scoresheet for the Stags and could arguably scored more, with Roberts hitting the crossbar and Jordan Clark hitting the post.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County secured three points away at Barnet courtesy of Tyrese Hall’s stoppage time winner. Kelle Roos made several save to keep Notts in it, and while Hall struck the bar, it was his fine late strike that won the points.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers had their first six-point week of the season with three wins. Jason Grande had another shutoff in a 4-0 away win over Fife, then a 5-2 away win over Dundee and, just to prove it wasn’t a fluke, bagged a 5-3 over Dundee at home.
🏍️ Motorcycling
Kyle Ryde became the first man to win successive British Superbike Championships since 2017 as he clinched the title on Sunday. A second place finish in race two all but secured the title, which was duly converted as he navigated tricky conditions to finish 6th in race three. The Jacksdale-born rider won six races and bagged 14 podiums across the season.
