Notts Going On — Nottingham Craft Beer Festival and our Splendour Tickets Competition
Festival fun, a bungalow in Bramcote, Nottingham Beach details, a competition for our readers, and more...
Hello and welcome to Notts Going On — your weekly guide with events, property, news, and more.
After writing our mega summer events guide (scroll on down below for that), it has finally hit me that the season of sun and fun is here! I’m so excited to get out into the county and make some memories.
This month I’m heading to the Nottingham Craft Beer Festival and the Foodies Festival, and I’m already plotting out plans for July and August. Want to go to the iconic Splendour Festival next month but not got tickets yet? Enter our competition on Instagram for the chance to win a pair.
And, if you are heading out this weekend like me, make sure to wear sun cream and stay hydrated, as it’s due to hit heights of 28 degrees.

Bookshop Five Leaves and the Notts Queer History Archive are hosting an evening with author Elizabeth Lovatt and a host of local lesbians, from line volunteers through to Nottingham’s newest lesbian events organisers. Nottingham Craft Beer Festival 🍻

Over 20 breweries from across the county and the country will be heading to Sneinton Market’s avenues, serving up beer, wine, and cider. The beauty of this festival is that the actual people from the breweries will be there, so you can ask them questions and properly find the right drink for you.
Do if: Spending a day soaking in the sun and drinks sounds great to you.
Selston Films in the Park 🍿
When: June 21
Where: Selston Country Park
How much: Free entry
Watch two of the biggest films of the last year for free in the beautiful surroundings of Selston Country Park. For marmalade sandwich lovers, Paddington in Peru will be playing from 2pm. Or, if you’re more into defying gravity, Wicked will be on from 6pm. There also will be a bar, inflatables, face painting, and acoustic acts throughout the day.
Do if: You’re looking for a budget-friendly day out with the kids.
Magic of Thailand 🇹🇭
When: June 21-22
Where: Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham
How much: Day ticket £6pp, under 15s free
Experience a magical touch of Thai culture during this festival packed with traditional activities. See Muay Thai boxing and traditional music and dancing, before tucking into food and drink and shopping specialist groceries. You can even get Buddhist monk blessings and your fortune told.
Do if: You’d like to be transported to another country without going on a plane.
International Day of Yoga 🧘♀️
When: June 22
Where: Wollaton Park, Nottingham

You’ll be able to take part in yoga classes and wellbeing sessions from 11am-4pm, all while keeping fuelled up with healthy treats. The tickets are an especially brilliant price in advance.
Do if: You’d like to take a little time to unwind.

Hot Property 🏡
This architect-designed bungalow in Bramcote has three bedrooms and plenty of space. Even though the outside is modern and striking, inside it’s comfortable and welcoming. The sitting room with a feature fireplace, the conservatory with its own bar, and the chic bedrooms are all highlights. It does have some contemporary features, such as the garage with a lift that goes directly into the kitchen (how convenient!). The garden is especially gorgeous, with luscious lawns, an al fresco dining area, and several summerhouses. It’s marketed by Fine & Country, which is accepting offers over £850k. rightmove.co.uk

News 🗞
👑 Happy and glorious: The King’s Birthday Honours list was announced last week, with 23 people from Nottinghamshire receiving awards. Notable names include former Sheriff of Nottingham Merlita Bryan who was awarded an MBE, as well the Pythian Youth Club’s Benjamin Rosser who was named a medallist of the Order of the British Empire. bbc.co.uk
☀️ Fun in the sun: Details for this year’s Nottingham Beach have been announced (yes, it’s that time of year once again!). It will open in Old Market Square from July 16-August 31 and will have a Santorini theme, which sounds very intriguing. As well as all the usual food and activities, there will be free films on Mondays, salsa on Tuesdays, and volleyball tournaments on Wednesdays. nottinghambeach.co.uk
