News 🗞
🍕 Another slice: Popular pizza chain Rudy’s is opening up its second Nottinghamshire branch in West Bridgford. It will be located in the former Black Pearl building, offering 105 covers inside, plus a large 70-seat outdoor seating area. Rudy’s in the city is one of our top Italian spots in Notts, so we’re looking forward to seeing this one open up this summer. rudyspizza.co.uk / westbridgfordwire.com
🌟 A star is born: TV show The Last of Us is back for a second season, with Nottingham’s own Bella Ramsey starring in the smash-hit adaptation of the video game. We enjoyed their interview with the BBC, where they chatted about growing up on screen and being autistic. Bella told the Beeb: “It's kind of lovely that my growth and development has been immortalised on-screen.” nowtv.com / bbc.co.uk
🎨 Artistic flair: Nottingham-based artist Bruce Asbestos is currently exhibiting his work at the Tate Modern in London. His playful style is being showcased as part of the Uniqlo Tate Play exhibit. If you’re in the big smoke, you can head there, create a costume, and display it on the runway. tate.org.uk
Scores on the Doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Forest fell to a second successive defeat on Saturday, losing 1-0 at the City Ground to Everton. Abdoulaye Doucouré struck in the 94th minute to secure three points for the visitors. Forest remain 3rd in the Premier League, but with rivals starting to close in, the conclusion to the season is set to be a dramatic one, as Forest aim for European qualification.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town didn't play on Saturday but fell to defeat in their midweek game against Leyton Orient. A 3-2 away defeat leaves them five points above the League Two relegation places.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County's promotion hopes took another dent as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Salford. Results elsewhere mean they still remain in contention for automatic promotion, sitting 6th in League One.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
Nottingham Panthers celebrated Head Coach Danny Stewart's new contract by progressing to the Elite League playoffs. A 3-2 defeat away against the Guildford Flames set up a tantalising encounter at the Motorpoint. The Panthers rose to the occasion, with a 6-4 win including a Mitch Fossier hat trick setting up a semi-final with rivals Sheffield.
🏏 Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
All three outcomes remain possible as Nottinghamshire go into the final day of their County Championship match against Essex. Kyle Verreynne's fine first innings century helped Notts bounce back from a poor start, before another fine performance with the ball from Fergus O'Neill. Last week's match against Durham ended with Notts winning by eight wickets.
