Notts Going On: Full nests and long walks
Foodie openings, a home worthy of Lord Byron, roller skating, and more...
Hi there and welcome to Notts Going On — your guide to everything you need to know in the area for the week ahead.
There's a whole lot of food and drink goodness in this week's guide. I visited Sri Lankan Colombo Street during Nottingham Restaurant Week and I was truly reminded again how brilliant the scene is here. No matter what you want to eat, Notts has pretty much got it covered.
Along with this, there's news, events, Hot Property, and more. Grab yourself a cup of coffee, get stuck in, and if you want to keep mine topped up, you can help keep The Notts Edit going on our Ko-fi page.

News 🗞️
🎡 Lights off: Nottingham’s Riverside Festival is going to be scaled back this year, with no fireworks on display, music stages, markets, or children's entertainment. Organisers Nottingham City Council made the decision to make the festival cost-neutral and will be just going ahead with the mile-long fun fair along the banks as well as the Sunday dragon boat festival. It will still take place August 2-4. bbc.co.uk
😋 Word on the street: We're excited to see that Notts Street Food is coming to a more permanent venue, as much as we enjoy seeing occasional pop ups. It's flying over to Notts County’s The Nest, providing a roster of Street Food during its launch. Fingers crossed that this will be all ready for the Euros. Also, we miss 13th Element big time, so if someone could bring it back to Notts Street Food, that would make our summer. @nottsstreetfood
🚌 Quids in: Nottingham has a brilliant bus system, which is not only known for its eco-friendly buses but also for its budget fares. The capped single £2 fares — which were launched last year due to the cost of living crisis — will continue until the end of 2024. If you're looking for an excuse to explore more of the county, getting the bus is a great way to easily step outside your city centre comfort zone. bbc.co.uk
🍕 Mamma mia: Another good pizza news for Nottingham foodies! If you've ever walked past the beautiful but derelict Grade II-listed building around the side of M&S, you might have wondered what it could be. It's officially going to be a Peter Pizzeria, which already has locations in Loughborough and Leicester. The building was constructed in 1836 and was originally a bank. nottstv.com
Hot Property 🏡
This is quite possibly the most stunning property we have ever put in Hot Property. The Arts and Crafts style home offers over 6,000 sq. ft across the main house and annexe. It has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a breakfast kitchen, a dining/games room, and more. Amazingly, it’s situated within the Newstead Abbey Park Grounds (which is one of our top beautiful places in Nottingham), meaning you can quite literally live like Lord Byron. It's being marketed by Fine and Country and the guide price is £2.6m. rightmove.co.uk
