(the) Woman 🎭

Where: Nottingham Playhouse
How much: From £12.50pp
Local award-winning playwright Jane Upton’s latest show aims to shatter the glossy veneer of motherhood. When M’s hit play is hijacked by motherhood, she decides she wants to tell it her way — but everyone around her is ready to give their opinion. This is only in Nottingham Monday-Tuesday, so do plan quickly if you’d like to go.
Do if: You’d love to see a funny yet enlightening show.
Paddy’s Day Carnival ☘️
When: March 15
Where: Binks Yard, Nottingham
How much: From £20.05pp
Celebrate Irish culture during this vibrant day at Binks Yard, which will be filled with live bands, dancers, and DJs. As well as this, you can pose in the 3D photo booth and try traditional food and drink styles. It’s worth noting that this is an 18+ event, so you might want to find a different day out with the kids or get a babysitter if you have little ones.
Do if: You want to party for St Patrick’s Day, but forgot to book the day off next Monday.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Drone Show ✨
When: March 15
Where: Trent Bridge, West Bridgford
How much: £23pp adult, £18pp child
The Oz world has been super popular this last year, with Wicked sweeping cinemas. But, of course, that tale follows the events of the original story The Wizard of Oz, which will be showcased in drone format during this unique show. There are very limited tickets remaining, so you might want to be speedy if you want to experience the magical spectacle.
Do if: You’d love to see something truly special and memorable.
Spring Plant Hunters Fair 🌷

Hot Property 🏡
Chic and contemporary, this four-bedroom home in Lambley looks like a holiday lodge — but it actually could be yours to enjoy all the time. Highlights include the open-plan kitchen, the indoor/outdoor layout, and the oak frame design throughout. The best part has to be the bedroom balcony though (on page nine of the listing!), which offers beautiful countryside views (and a grand spot to welcome guests). It’s marketed by Robert Ellis and is listed at £550k. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞
🎨 Make space: Fisher Gate Point — an arts space dedicated to culture and community — has opened its doors to the public from this week onwards. It will host live music events and workshops, as well as offering a variety of spaces to hire. Plus, there is a café and bar that will be open 10am-11pm Sunday-Thursday and until midnight Friday-Saturday. It’s worth keeping an eye on its Instagram for future events. fishergatepoint.com / @1fishergatepoint
🍫 Sweet treat: The Beeston Brownie Company is opening its first-ever shop this Saturday. You may have seen and sampled its goods at fairs and festivals, but now you’ll able to try brownies, cheesecakes, cakes, and hot drinks in its own cosy venue. The first paying 100 customers will get a free brownie — so we’ll see you in line. @beestonbrownie
🐶 Best in show: Newark’s own Rachel Salter won The Kennel Club Breeders’ Competition final at Crufts on Thursday, scooping up the title with her team of Bearded Collies. Helen Kerfoot, Crufts Show manager, said: “Rachel is clearly a talented breeder who has put a lot of time and effort into developing sound breeding practices. Her dogs are testament to her hard work and dedication to the breed.” westbridgfordwire.com
Scores on the doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Forest's first victory over Manchester City since 1997 has put them in the driving seat for a place in the Premier League top four, with a 1-0 win extending their advantage over 5th place City to four points. Callum Hudson-Odoi's late goal was enough to settle a close encounter. We're hoping club legend Stuart Pearce was able to enjoy the occasion as he recovers after falling ill over the weekend. Get well soon!
Forest's women's side beat Loughborough Lightning 2-0 in the Women's Nation league north ahead of their local derby against Derby County at the City Ground, while the netball team lost at the semi-final stage of the Netball Super Cup.
🦌 Mansfield Town 🐦 Notts County
Mansfield Town's League One winless run continued with a 1-1 draw away at Stevenage, while Notts County also fell to defeat in their League Two clash against Wimbledon.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers clinched a fine shootout win over rivals Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, before being beaten away by the Cardiff Devils.
