Following its world premiere at the Playhouse in 2023 and a sell-out tour, The Beekeeper of Aleppo is back in Nottingham for three weeks. One of the top comedians in the UK, Sara Pascoe’s latest show will be filled with randomness, a touch of weirdness, and thoughts that will have you nodding your head in thorough agreement. Sara Pascoe has appeared on Taskmaster, Live at the Apollo, and QI, as well as presenting on The Great British Sewing Bee, and is known for her dry, witty sense of humour.

Refresh your mind during this open-water dip session, suitable for both beginners and seasoned swimmers. News 🗞
🫶 So cultured: Two Broxtowe towns have thrown their hats in for the 2028 Town of Culture title, with Beeston and Kimberley both preparing bids. This is a brand-new competition that will run alongside the existing UK City of Culture contest. The government has said the winner would be awarded a £3m prize, with two runners-up receiving £250,000 each. Fingers crossed! bbc.co.uk
🧗🏻♂️ Holy moly: Tired of potholes? One fed up photographer felt the same, taking mini models of mountain climbers into Newark and photographing them ‘mountaineering’ them. Dave Fargher told the BBC that his artistic idea came from “frustration rather than novelty” – but his creativity has clearly worked, with Nottinghamshire County Council saying all the potholes showcased in Farger’s mini-dramas were being considered for repair. bbc.co.uk
Scores on the Doors 🏆
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest were beaten 3-1 by Leeds United in the Premier League, with results elsewhere increasing the threat of relegation. The Reds were comfortably beaten despite Lorenzo Lucca’s goal and a first appearance for the deadline day signing German left-back Luca Netz. With West Ham winning, Forest are now only three points above the bottom three.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town extended their League One unbeaten run to nine games, with a 0-0 draw against Exeter to leave them 12th in the table. Nigel Clough’s side also bolstered their ranks with the addition of George Abbott on loan from Tottenham. The 20-year-old midfielder spent last year at Notts County, where he scored the EFL goal of the season.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County moved into second spot in League Two after a 2-1 win over Barrow. Notts, who had also seen off Gillingham 1-0 in midweek, have won six successive games to move into the automatic promotion places. Matthew Dennis put Notts ahead in the second half, and the Magpies also needed a last-minute clearance from Jacob Bedeau to secure the points.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Nottingham Panthers, who welcomed back Mitch Fossier to their starting line-up, played two penalty shootouts in two games last week. The Panthers secured a 4-3 away over Glasgow Clan before a 2-1 home defeat to Coventry Blaze. The Panthers sit third in the Elite League.
