Beauty review: Sofwave at Your Beauty Doctor
By Eve Smallman
As a woman who sits at her desk and scrolls on her phone a lot (what can I say, I’m a writer), I spend a lot of time looking down. Over the years, I’ve noticed I’ve developed some lines on my neck from this, but I have never been sure what to do beyond rubbing moisturiser on in a panic.
“That’s what I call tech neck,” Dr. Jess says as we start to chat. I’m visiting her to try Sofwave — a non-invasive treatment designed to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate fine lines. I haven’t tried any other aesthetic work, so I was looking forward to trying something new and that wasn’t needle-based.
Your Beauty Doctor is the only clinic in the region that offers this luxurious treatment, which is loved by celebs like the Kardashians. If it’s good enough for them, I thought why not give it a whirl?
Before I went, I was sent a numbing cream to apply an hour beforehand. This was quite interesting — it felt like little pins and needles on my face! I was told to apply this generously, which I did, and I recommend doing the same if you go for the treatment.
I was a little nervous at first, but Dr. Jess put me at ease straight away. Her clinic is pristine and beautifully designed, and is filled with her robust credentials. We spoke about my areas of concern — my neck and my jaw — but Sofwave can be done on the face and other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, knees, and elbows.
I will be totally honest — it isn’t a treatment for those who struggle with a little bit of pain. It essentially feels like little hot pulses that surge for a second, and then go down straight after. Like if you burn yourself on a pan, but without the lasting pain.
I had it at the maximum level as my pain threshold is okay, but it can be taken down a couple of levels. Dr. Jess very kindly handed me a couple of stress balls, which definitely helped (and I have secretly ordered for my desk).
It took around 45 minutes to do both my neck and my jaw, with my neck taking the longest due to the lines on it. I could immediately see results, with the lines being less faded and my jaw being more ‘snatched’.
There wasn’t a lasting pain — it felt a little sore, but this pain went away overnight. I’m a keen runner, so I was happy to hear there wasn’t any necessary downtime afterwards, unlike other aesthetic treatments. It also only requires just one session to see results.
After a month, I could especially see the difference in the lines on the side of my neck. My jaw has also firmed up amazingly, too. However, Sofwave results can reportedly be seen even better after 3-6 months, so I’m looking forward to this. Results can last between nine months and two years, but you can do more sessions.
If, like me, you’re feeling a little self-conscious about fine lines anywhere on you, I can highly recommend Sofwave at Your Beauty Doctor. It’s non-invasive, the results are immediate to see and long-lasting, and it’s a brilliant confidence boost.
