Hot Property 🏡
Love cosy homes with oodles of character? This four-bedroom barn conversion in Strelley is so warm and welcoming. It has amazing wooden beams and rustic exposed brickwork throughout, which are complemented by modern touches. The kitchen area with its arches, breakfast bar, and wine cooler has to be our favourite room inside. That being said, the living rooms, bedrooms, and two bathrooms are also lovely. Outside, the cottage garden — complete with an al fresco dining area — is really charming. The home is marketed by Frank Innes, which is considering offers over £520k. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞
🍽️ Dine in style: The owners of The Ivy have submitted planning permission for the former Hugo Boss building on Bridlesmith Gate. The restaurant is known for its British dining experience, with enviable interiors and elegant food. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this goes through, as we think this would be a brilliant addition to the city. westbridgfordwire.com
🏳️🌈 Waving the flag: Notts Pride is returning to Sneinton Market on July 26, promising a jam-packed lineup of entertainment, performances, and live music. Last year was the first time the main stage was at the market, with other bars and activities in Hockley. The event is also looking for sponsors and is hosting a business mixer on May 15 for local businesses who may be interested. nottspride.co.uk
🍪 Sweet treat: US dessert brand Insomnia Cookies has opened up its newest store on Angel Row, offering a mixture of freshly baked cookies. It’s open from 10am-5am every day, so you can get your sugary craving fix no matter what time of day you’re in need. insomniacookies.co.uk
Scores on the Doors
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest's dream FA Cup run is over after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. Forest fell behind after two minutes and, despite hitting the post three times, were unable to turn things around in front of a terrific crowd.
However, Nottingham Forest Women are Women's National League Champions! A 7-2 home win over West Brom saw Forest clinch promotion to the Women's Championship and is a second piece of silverware this season for Carly Davies' side.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town were beaten 4-0 by League One champions Birmingham City, but results elsewhere mean that Nigel Clough's side will be playing League One football next season.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County retain a chance of automatic promotion on the final day of the season, following a 3-1 victory over Harrogate. The result means that the Magpies will at the very least be in the playoffs, but victory against league leaders Doncaster and some favourable results on Saturday could see a second promotion in three years.
George Abbott's sublime volley won EFL goal of the season at last night's EFL awards, while David McGoldrick and Alassana Jatta were in the League Two Team of the Season.
🏏 Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
Nottinghamshire lead the County Championship Division One after a win inside three days over Sussex. Another fine bowling performance from Josh Tongue, Brett Hutton and Farhan Ahmed over the two Sussex innings laid a platform for Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett to chase down the required runs in Notts' second innings and secure a 21-point victory at Trent Bridge.
