News 🗞️
🎬 On screen: Sherwood is officially back, with the first episode on series two having aired on Sunday. It’s fully filmed in and around Nottinghamshire this time (due to it not being filmed during the pandemic like the last one), so keep your peepers open for plenty of familiar spots like the Castle, Nottinghamshire County Council's headquarters, and Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station. It’s also written by Ashfield-born playwright James Graham and this season stars Oliver Huntington as Ryan Bottomley, who studied at the Television Workshop. bbc.co.uk
🎆 Hot ticket: It might still be August, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start planning autumn events. Trent Bridge has announced it’s hosting a Fireworks Night on November 1-2, along with Nottingham Street Food. You can either grab a standard package or spend an extra £15pp to get the ticket plus package which includes exclusive access to the Boundary’s Edge suite, dining facilities, a drink on arrival, plus tea and coffee throughout. Tickets for this always sell out, so if you do want to go, you might want to snap yours up ASAP. trentbridge.co.uk
🙏 A beautiful game: Former England manager and director of football at Notts County Sven-Göran Eriksson passed away at the age of 76 yesterday, after a short illness. During his time at the club in 2009, his ‘brief but significant tenure brought renewed hope and excitement to the club's loyal fanbase’, according to the Pride of Nottingham. It also said that ‘his experience and guidance were instrumental as the club navigated the turbulent waters that followed the collapse of Munto Finance’s promises.’ prideofnottingham.co.uk
⚽ Scores on the doors: Speaking of football, there has been plenty happening on the pitch this week. Notts County beat Grimsby Town 4-1 on Thursday in a goal-filled game at Meadow Lane, Nottingham Forest secured a 1-0 win against Southampton on Saturday, and Mansfield Town lost 4-1 against Lincoln City on Saturday.
Hot Property 🏡
I’ve been majorly into cosy properties lately (maybe I’m just excited for autumn!) and this four-bedroom cottage tucked away in Long Eaton is no exception. It has beautiful rooms including a dining room with an adjoining snug, a kitchen diner with handmade oak units and an AGA, and two bathrooms with colourful retro-style tiles. This was reduced down to £565k by Robert Ellis a couple of weeks ago. rightmove.co.uk
