Notts Going On: Daytime clubbing and dancing with scissors
It may be the end of Feb, but our city hasn't slowed down...
Welcome to Notts Going On, which brings you plenty of useful tidbits to set you up for the week ahead.
If you’re looking ahead to next month already (we don’t blame you, it has felt like a long month), we’ve also got you set up with things to do in Nottingham in March.
As always, for those who have any news or events you’d like to see featured in our Monday roundup, please do email us at editor@thenottsedit.com.

🪩 Vicky McClure, of Line of Duty fame, is the brains behind daytime clubbing event Day Fever, which is aimed at the over-30s. She’s bringing the event to Notts in March in a sold-out event with a 1,000+ waiting list. If you don’t fancy your chances on that, she’s thankfully announced she’s expanding the event to Rock City in April. More details are yet to come, but keep your peepers on the Day Fever Instagram if you want to be first in line.
🎭 Who knew that Edward Scissorhands could be turned into an enchanting dance show? Well, Matthew Bourne did, which you can see at the Theatre Royal from February 27-March 2 (see tickets here). Based on the film by Tim Burton and with hauntingly beautiful music by Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, the witty, bittersweet story will be brought to life on the stage. Tickets range from £26.50-£57.
🛍️ Youth people charity Base 51 is hosting a charity Sip and Shop at the Malt Cross on Wednesday, February 28, from 12-6.30pm. Entry is just £1, which you can either pre-book on the Base 51 site here or can buy on the day itself. All items will be under £10 and brands on offer will include the likes of Nike, Ted Baker, M&S, and more. You might want to pop down on your lunch break if you want to get all the goodies before they’re gone.
🎈 Do you remember the pothole calendar that we featured a couple of months ago in Notts Going On? Organisers from the Gedling Borough Potholes group on Facebook threw a party to further highlight the depth of the problem, featuring one of the most random cakes we’ve ever seen, as well as party fun with the potholes themselves. Find out more about it in Gedling Eye’s article.
🏡 For a home straight out of a fairytale, this gorgeous Elmcroft house on Rightmove for £1.6m is one to swoon over. Located in Mapperley Park, the 1920s house has six reception rooms, five bedrooms, and three bedrooms in the main house, as well as a newly built annexe. It even has a leisure suite with a swimming pool and sauna. The whole interior has an ornate, regal feel, but still looks lovely and airy. Our favourite feature has to be the back garden though, fit with a stunning pond feature.
⚽ Mansfield Town secured a 5-1 win against Salford on Saturday, putting the Stags top of League Two. Meanwhile, there were disappointing results for both Nottingham Forest and Notts County, with Forest falling to a 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa, while County lost 3-1 at home to Crewe.
