News 🗞️
🎉 It’s a celebration: Our county has so much history and heritage, which is being honoured on Nottinghamshire Day on August 25. Nottinghamshire County Council has unveiled a range of plans, with the main public event taking place at Sherwood Forest, hosting activities such as craft-making workshops, poetry competitions, and orienteering. This will coincide with the Robin Hood Festival (which is one of our top summer events). westbridgfordwire.com
🏳️🌈 Flying the flag: Notts Pride is returning to Nottingham city centre on July 27, where the streets will be awash with colour and excitement. This year it’s taking place across two locations — Sneinton Market, which will host the main stage, and Hockley, which will be hosting a street party. Headlining the event will be Nottingham’s own Tia Kofi from Drag Race, along with other glittering acts including Dolly Parton impersonator Kelly O’Brien and singer-songwriter Rob Green. There will also be the iconic march, educational stalls, and a family area. nottspride.co.uk
🐟 What a catch: Chip shop Sea and Earth has opened up a new store in Eastwood, which is its fourth location along with Nottingham, Loughborough, and Leek. Their USP is in the name — they sell both vegan and regular fish and chips, both of which are delicious. It was named this month as one of the best fish and chip shops in the country by Tom Parker-Bowles in the Daily Mail, so it basically has the royal seal of approval. @seaearthchippy
🥐 Get your fill: This is another exciting opening for foodies. Michelin-trained chef Nichola Thompson has opened up Table 47 on Bridlesmith Gate. The coffee shop is serving up croissants filled with savoury or sweet fillings (we’re lusting after the pistachio and raspberry), as well as decadent cakes, fruity coolers, and more. There will also be £1 croissants on Wednesday. Nichola is offering private dining within the same venue, with a menu designed just for your party or event. @table47_bridlesmithgate
🏏 Good innings: In cricket, The Blaze lifted the Charlotte Edwards Cup in Derby on Saturday after beating South East Stars, comfortably chasing down 142 to win the final of the 20-over competition. Kathryn Bryce scored her fifth half-century of the tournament, with her sister Sarah also reaching 52 not out. Based at Trent Bridge, The Blaze will become professional and formally join Nottinghamshire CCC in 2025, as part of an ECB project to grow the women's game. theguardian.com
Hot Property 🏡
We love that this detached four-bedroom home in West Bridgford is bright and breezy, but has plenty of characterful elements throughout. Downstairs you’ll find a spacious living room, a kitchen with an open dining and breakfast area, plus a playroom and office room. Head upwards to the bedrooms, which are all served by one en-suite bathroom that’s giving us all the hotel vibes. The guide price is £850k (steep, but it does fall into the prestigious West Bridgford School catchment area) and it’s listed by Holden Copley. rightmove.co.uk
