News 🗞️
🎖️ Happy returns: The King's birthday honours list came out on Friday, with 14 Nottinghamshire representatives. Notable figures include former Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping who was awarded CBE and Nottingham College Chair Carole Thoregood who was awarded BEM. But, most of all, we love that 85-year-old Wollaton-based lace maker Sheila Mason was made an MBE, whose business supplied the lace made for Kate's wedding dress. bbc.co.uk
🎉 Cause for celebration: Splendour Festival is a key part of the Nottingham calendar and it will be very sorely missed this summer. Thankfully, it has now been "effectively confirmed for the next five years." Nottingham City Council councillors and organisers DHP have been allowed to continue negotiations over a new contract, following delays to the tendering process that led to this year's festival not going ahead. This means that the future of it has all but been secured until 2029. Phew. nottstv.com
🎾 Love that: The Nottingham Open has seen plenty of action over the last week, which ended in Katie Boulter winning overall against Karolina Pliskova. One of the most dramatic games of the weekend was her semi final win over star Emma Raducanu on Sunday. The game was suspended on Saturday due to bad weather and poor conditions, but on Sunday Katie triumphed and went on to to win the tournament for the second year running. bbc.co.uk
⚽ A real loss: Former Nottingham Forest striker Kevin Campbell sadly passed away aged 54, following a short illness. He spent three seasons playing for The Reds during 1995-1998, scoring 35 goals in 97 appearances and was part of the squad that earned promotion from the First Division in 1998. nottinghamforest.co.uk

Hot Property 🏡
If living on the doorstep of Wollaton Hall sounds like a dream for you, you’re going to love this spacious property. The home is clean and fresh with a retro vibe, and has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and four reception rooms. Outside is a gardeners’ paradise, with fruit bushes and flourishing plants, along with a brook to the rear. There is also plenty of room for extension, if you need any more space. It’s marketed by PDM Estates LTD and listed at £530k. rightmove.co.uk
