Notts Going On — Festival of Food and Drink and Wollaton Winter Light Trail Pre-Booking
Art and food fests, a Victorian home in Sandiacre, early festive fun, and more...
Hello and welcome to Notts Going On — your weekly guide with events, property, news, and more.
I’m currently writing this with a slightly injured foot, after racing across Nottingham to grab some clips of Prince Harry for socials (see my efforts here). I’m running the Robin Hood Half in less than two weeks, so I’m keeping it well-rested now! That being said, we’re heading to the Festival of Food and Drink this weekend, which looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Want to support our independent journalism? This space is usually for our Ko-fi, but for this month we’d be very grateful if you’d donate to Eve’s Robin Hood Half Marathon fundraiser for Emmanuel House.

Detached, Victorian, and oh-so-dreamy, this spacious five-bedroom home in Sandiacre has plenty of timeless character and charm. Original features include panelled pine doors, some original wooden flooring, and feature fireplaces. We love the cream kitchen with bright orange tiles, the dining room with electric blue coving, and the airy stable with wooden beams. The south-facing garden is also large, with luscious borders for growing. Offers over £650k are being accepted, and it is marketed by HoldenCopley. rightmove.co.uk

The Theatre Royal in Nottingham is celebrating its 160th anniversary
When it comes to watching the arts around the county, we are lucky to have so many brilliant venues to do so at. One of these is the renowned Theatre Royal, which has stood proudly in the city since September 25, 1865.

👑 A royal visit: Prince Harry visited Nottingham last Tuesday, where he visited the Community Recording Studio in St. Ann’s. He also made a personal £1.1m donation to a BBC Children in Need project in Nottingham, supporting young people who have been affected by violence. We ran across town to get this video of him. bbc.co.uk
🏍️ Good deed: Yogesh Alekari went viral after his motorbike was stolen in Nottingham, after having already done 15,000 miles of a round-the-world challenge. He had travelled through 17 countries before it was stolen. Thankfully, last week, the Off Road Bike Centre in Mansfield Woodhouse got him back on the road by gifting him a new bike. bbc.co.uk
Scores on the Doors 🏆
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest parted company with Nuno Espírito Santo in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with Ange Postecoglou replacing him. The former Tottenham boss, who won the Europa League last season with Spurs, took charge of the Reds for the first time at Arsenal on Saturday, overseeing a 3-0 defeat. Meanwhile, Elliot Anderson impressed again on England duty, picking up Man of the Match for the second game in a row as the Three Lions beat Serbia 5-0 away.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town drew 1-1 with Stevenage in League One, with Joe Gardner scoring the equaliser after the Stags fell behind. Lee Gregory, who scored 10 goals for Mansfield last year, retired from football after a serious knee injury sustained in February. Gregory started and ended his professional career with the Stags.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County fell to a 1-0 defeat at Gillingham in League Two, and will also be hoping that an injury to Matthew Dennis isn't too serious. The forward has scored six goals and was the League Two Player of the Month for August.
🏏 Cricket
Nottinghamshire beat the conditions to secure a vital win against Worcestershire in the County Championship, closing the gap to leaders Surrey to one point. They play Surrey in the penultimate game of the season this week. The Blaze earned a spot in the One Day Cup semi finals with a win over Essex, and will host Lancashire on Tuesday.
🏒 Ice Hockey
The Nottingham Panthers are underway for the 25/26 season. In their first two games in the Challenge Cup the Panthers fell to a 6-3 defeat to Cardiff Devils, before a 5-2 defeat to Coventry Blaze on Sunday.
