What’s On 🗓️
Rufford’s Mini Christmas Market 🛍️
When: December 14-15
Where: Rufford Abbey Country Park, Ollerton
How much: Free entry, car parking applies
Rufford Abbey’s Coach House Courtyard will be hosting 12 stalls this weekend, which will be filled with gifts, jewellery, decorations, and more. There will also be holiday tunes and twinkling lights that will add to the festive atmosphere. The market runs from 10am-4pm and will also be open next weekend, in case you need to get any last-minute Christmas shopping done.
Do if: You still haven’t found that perfect present for someone and are very much in need of some inspiration.
The Storm Whale 🎭
When: December 14-January 5
Where: Lakeside Arts, Beeston
How much: £10.50-£12pp
Benji Davies’ tender and heart-warming story of loneliness, love and courage is coming to Lakeside Arts. When Noi rescues a little whale, their new-found friendship changes their lives forever. The story is based on Benji’s award-winning books and the show will have music from Julian Butler. It’s worth noting that tickets for this week are sold out, but the ones for next week are all on their final few.
Do if: You’re looking for something the whole family will enjoy that doesn’t involve going into the city centre.
Jeanie Barton with NJO 🎶
When: December 15
Where: The Royal British Legion, Beeston
How much: £10pp, £5pp students
Jeanie Barton is combining forces with the Nottingham Jazz Orchestra for a big evening of bold tunes. They’ll be playing swinging versions of all your favourite Christmas songs, with plenty of energy and spirit. Tickets for students are half-price, so if you’re a Nottingham student and are looking for a treat before you go home, this could be a fun evening.
Do if: You’re less about swaying to carols and more about dancing to glittering tunes.
Lino Printing Workshop ✂️
When: December 15
Where: Long Eaton Art Room
How much: £60pp
Artist and designer Marcus Gilmore will guide you through this fascinating workshop, where you’ll learn how to use the medium of Lino printing to create your own designs. You’ll be taken through the whole process, from sketching out your design to printing it on paper. All equipment including Lino plates, carving tools, and ink will be provided for you, as will drinks and biscuits to keep you going.
Do if: You haven’t sent out your Christmas cards yet and love the idea of making your own.
Belters Sing at St Mary’s 🎶
When: December 16
Where: St Mary’s Church, Nottingham
How much: £8pp
The brilliant Belters Choir will be singing their hearts out during this uplifting show. During the interval, there will be a charity raffle, as well as refreshments such as mulled wine and mince pies. All profits from the show will go towards Emmanuel House, which is a local independent charity which supports people who are homeless. There will be tickets at the door, but it’s worth booking in advance (which is why we’ve put this in this week’s guide!).
Do if: You’d like to wind down for the holidays in a special and relaxing way.

Christmas Essentials 🎄
Hot Property 🏡
Burton Joyce has had so many gorgeous properties pop up recently, and this five-bedroom nestled in the heart of it is no exception. Step inside and you’ll find a warm and open reception area, two sitting rooms (one which opens into the kitchen), and its own dining room. Upstairs, highlights include the hotel-style master bedroom suite, the bay-window landing, and the luxe bathrooms. I’m also loving the wooden detailing that’s present throughout. It’s accepting offers over £1.5m and it’s marketed by Savills. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞️
🍽️ New food find: The Chapel opened in Edwinstowe last week and it looks like a real treat. It’s run by the teams behind BOHNS Burgers and Smokehouse UK and has a brunch menu filled with local produce, as well as a refined Christmas menu. It will also be hosting ‘Wine Time’ Tuesday to Thursday 4-6pm, where you can go in for a drink and enjoy free elevated bar snacks. thechapeledwinstowe.co.uk
❌ The show must go on: We featured the A Christmas Carol Drone Show in our monthly events round-up, so wanted to flag that the event has been postponed until 2025 due to weather over the weekend. Ticket holders will be able to transfer tickets to the new dates and should email hello@yuup.co with any questions. westbridgfordwire.com

Scores on the doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Forest made two trips to Manchester last week, losing to Manchester City 3-0 last Wednesday before a major victory 3-2 victory at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Saturday. It was the Reds' first win at Old Trafford in 30 years, and it means they have now won back-to-back league games against United for the first time since Brian Clough was in charge in 1992.
🦌 Mansfield Town
The Stags lost 3-1 away at Bolton last Tuesday, before a 2-1 home defeat against Huddersfield on Saturday. They've now lost 5 successive League One games.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County's form continues to falter, losing 3-2 away to promotion-chasers Walsall. Scoreboard damage inflicted by Storm Darragh meant their home game against Colchester was postponed. The Magpies now sit outside the playoffs.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Panthers picked up an away point against Guildford Flames, although they did lose 5-4 after overtime. They did, however, rebound with a 3-1 win over Cardiff Devils. The Panthers are next in action at the Motorpoint on December 14, where they will be retiring Adam Johnson's #47 jersey.
