News 🗞️
🏅 Going for gold: Nottingham has been represented at the Paris Paralympic Games by two brilliant athletes. Swimmer Tully Kearney MBE won gold medals in the women's 100m freestyle S5·Swimming and 200m freestyle S5·Swimming. Meanwhile, two-time Paralympic champion Richard Whitehead MBE (who I see sometimes when running in Colwick!) has been part of BBC Radio 5 Live’s coverage in Paris. On September 15 he has a 5k and 2k fun run with Adele Roberts at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Plus, he’ll be running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on September 29. bbc.co.uk / runtothefuture.co.uk
⛳ Hole in one: Golf Fang opened on Huntingdon Street on Friday, and having been I can confirm that it’s the biggest and possibly the best mini golf course in Nottingham. The site included plenty of recycled sets and parts, including the Peaky Blinders pub, a swan boat from Warwick Castle, and a slide from Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Big Fang Collective co-founder Kip Piper said: “We’re all about the experience and the new venue looks insane, with brand new sets and immersive surprises just for Nottingham that we’re genuinely excited about and proud of.” golffang.co.uk / tiktok.com/@thenottsedit
🥊 Remember me: A bronze statue of legendary boxer William ‘Bendigo’ Thompson will be built, following a generous mystery donation to the Bendigo Heritage Project. It will be created by famous sculptor Andy Edwards, who also sculpted The Beatles statue in Liverpool and the Brian Clough and Peter Taylor sculpture at Pride Park. Trustee Alan Dawson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service. “It should be and will be a tourist attraction.” nottstv.com
⚽ Forest for England: Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White made his England debut on Saturday, coming off the bench as England won 2-0 away against the Republic of Ireland. Morgan looked sharp in the 15 minutes he played and will be hoping to feature again against Finland on Tuesday. Elsewhere in football, hometown hero David McGoldrick bagged a second brace in two games as Notts County won 2-0 against Accrington Stanley.
Hot Property 🏡
This five-bedroom home is one for those who have been watching Selling Sunset (like me!), as it looks like it could be in LA — but it’s actually near Mapperley Park. It has all the hallmarks of luxury living, bringing together sophistication and comfort with features like an entrance with underfloor heating, a living room with mood lighting, and even a family room with its own bar. All the bedrooms also have access to en-suite bathrooms. It’s listed at £950k and marketed by HoldenCopley. rightmove.co.uk
