What’s On 🗓️
Motherhood at Belvoir 👗
When: Until May 11
Where: Belvoir Castle, Grantham
How much: Included with castle ticket (£23.40pp adult, £9pp child)
We know that this is a little outside of Nottinghamshire, but it has an NG postcode and it’s easy to drive to, so we’re including it. This exhibition explores the strength, love, and legacy of motherhood at the castle through art and history. Once you’ve visited this, you can also wander around the beautiful castle grounds, which will be filled with seasonal blooms.
Do if: You’d love a trip out of town with all the Bridgerton vibes.
Basketry: Rescuing, Reviving, Retaining 🧺
When: April 12-June 28
Where: Harley Foundation, Worksop
How much: Free entry
Works from over 60 basket makers will be on display during this basket-weaving exhibition. These modern creators are all part of the generation keeping this craft alive — which is especially important as many British basketry skills are critically endangered, according to Heritage Crafts. We also recommend visiting the Welbeck Farm Shop and the Harley Cafe while you’re on the estate.
Do if: You enjoy finding out about different heritage crafts..
Watson Fothergill Walk 🚶
When: April 13
Where: Outside Tourist Information Centre, Nottingham
How much: £20pp
Join talented tour guide Lucy Brouwer for a Sunday stroll around Nottingham, where you’ll discover many beautiful Watson Fothergill buildings. You’ll learn about the architect’s signature Gothic style and influences, as well as hear fascinating stories about the city. The walk will take approximately two hours, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes.
Do if: You’d like to learn more about Nottingham from a different perspective.

Travel and Leisure 🌳
Looking for a lovely Nottinghamshire break? We stayed at the Sherwood Forest Lodge in Kings Clipstone and had such a relaxing time. There are two lodges at the site — a two-bedroom and two-bathroom lodge perfect for families or the one-bedroom and one-bathroom lodge perfect for couples.
We stayed at the second one, which has a warm and inviting interior, with everything you need to make yourself at home. It also has amazing countryside views, which you can either enjoy in the hot tub or with a cup of tea. It’s just a couple of minutes' drive away from Edwinstowe, which is home to Sherwood Forest and fab places to eat and drink like Fables and The Chapel. You can see more of our trip on our Instagram reel. sherwoodforestlodge.carrd.co
Hot Property 🏡
This five-bedroom home in Edwalton has a fascinating history dating back 350 years. It is also one of the original seven houses of the village. It is charming and characterful throughout, without highlights including the spacious open-plan living area, the retro-style kitchen with a colourful feature wall, and the bright conservatory that opens up to the garden. It is marketed by Rex Gooding and is listed at £950k. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞
🐰 Hop to it: Luisa’s Vegan Chocolates featured in The Guardian on Saturday, with reviewer Benjamina Ebuehi (of Bake Off fame) taste-testing its matcha bunny for its best Easter treats guide. She said that she appreciated how well the matcha flavour comes through and said it’s a good plant-based option for those looking for something similar to white chocolate. theguardian.com
🌷 Sit back and relax: Another win in The Guardian for Notts! Framework Knitters Museum’s Parker’s Yard was named one of the best museum cafes in the country. Scores on the doors ⚽
🌳 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest remain in a strong position for European qualification despite a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa. The Reds had a poor start, going 2-0 down early on but grew into the game, with Jota Silva pulling one back and Murillo striking the bar late on. Forest remain 3rd in the Premier League.
🦌 Mansfield Town
Mansfield were left to rue missed chances in their 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield. The Stags missed several opportunities, and while Dominic Dwyer struck late, it was too late for the away side. They sit 17th in League One.
🐦 Notts County
Notts County's promotion push took a hit with 1-0 defeat against play-off chasers Colchester. The Magpies couldn't find a way back after falling behind in the first half, and now sit 6th in League Two.
🏒 Nottingham Panthers
The Elite League season came to a conclusion, with the Belfast Giants crowned champions, following two overtime wins over the Panthers. The Panthers did have an outside chance of winning the title, and left everything on the ice, just coming up short — but with lots of positives going into the Playoffs and beyond.
🏏 Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
Nottinghamshire have set up an intriguing final day against Durham in their County Championship opener. Fergus O'Neill took a five-wicket haul on debut, before Notts piled on 579 runs, with Lyndon James scoring 125. Three wickets late on day three left Durham 87 runs behind and Notts in control as the final day unfolds.
