Notts Going On — A Masterchef Professional and gorgeous gift shopping
Big news for the Nottingham food scene, an Art Deco home, cosy activities, and more...
Hello and welcome to Notts Going On — your weekly guide with events, property, news, and more.
I’ve switched around the format this week, putting events right at the top so you can easily find them, then following these with property (which I know so many people love!), and finally, of course, news. Like the change? Hate the change? Let me know at editor@thenottsedit.com (where you can always get in touch about anything!).

What’s On This Week 🗓️
Intimate Nottingham Concert 🎶
When: November 5
Where: Nottingham
How much: £14pp
Discover new tunes for your playlist at this cosy concert. Three up-and-coming acts will be playing, so you’ll be able to find new songs to add to your playlist. The location will be revealed once you buy your ticket, but it will definitely be in Nottingham city centre. There will also mostly be floor seating, so be sure to bring cushions and blankets with you.
Do if: You’d like to go on a romantic date this week.
Our House 🎭
When: November 5-9
Where: Mansfield Palace Theatre
How much: £19.50pp
This musical is Madness’ answer to Mamma Mia, with songs by the band being woven into the storyline. When Joe Casey commits a petty crime, he has a choice to make — run away or fess up? The play splits into two paths, showing the benefits and consequences of both decisions. Mansfield’s own Masque Productions is performing this, so you’ll also be supporting local talent if you do go.
Do if: You fancy mixing up your evening entertainment with a show you can’t just watch on streaming.
Bob Dylan 🎶
When: November 8
Where: Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham
How much: From £97.31pp
The legendary musician — who is widely considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time — is coming to Nottingham as part of his worldwide tour. You’ll know him from tunes such as Mr. Tambourine Man, Blowin’ in the Wind, and Like a Rolling Stone. It’s worth noting that this is a phone-free event and that only the final tickets remain.
Do if: You’d like to liven up your Friday night with an unforgettable experience.
Lustre 2024 🛍️

A host of artists, designers, and crafters will be bringing beautiful wares to Lakeside Arts to peruse. Whether you like stunning homewares, pretty jewellery, or wonderful wearables, there is something for everyone. On Friday the event is in the evening from 6-8pm, while at the weekend it runs on Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Fashion stylist Bee Newham will also be on hand for 1:1 styling services (prices from £30pp, more info @beenewhamstylist). Hot Property 🏡
Art Deco is one of the chicest and most characterful styles out there — and this family home has it in spades. Downstairs it has three reception areas, a lounge and library, and a spacious kitchen. Upstairs, there are five beautiful bedrooms, including the master with soaring garden views. The property is set in the prestigious Mapperley Park Estate, which means you’ll also have access to private tennis lawn courts and cricket pitches. It’s marketed by Belvoir, which is looking for offers over £1.2m. rightmove.co.uk
News 🗞️
👨🍳 Cooking up a storm: We are so lucky to have such an amazing food scene here, which has so many talented chefs within it. One of those is Ritchie Stainsby, who is appearing on this season of Masterchef: The Professionals. He and his wife own vegan restaurant No. Twelve in Eldon Chambers. He said: “I’d like to display a different style of dining that everyone can enjoy, whether you eat meat or not.” You can catch him starting this week from November 7th at 8pm. @chefritchiestainsby
👏 Jolly good show: Did you catch Paul Smith’s show at the Nottingham Playhouse last month? He held a talk and a Q&A at the theatre, in order to help raise funds for it following cuts by Nottingham City Council. Amazingly, all ticket sales from the events and a bucket collection on the day resulted in £18k being raised. Stephanie Sirr, chief executive at Nottingham Playhouse, said: “We are so grateful to Sir Paul for his very generous support, and are really thrilled with the total raised. It’s a significant sum which will directly impact the work we do in the community. @nottmplayhouse
⚽ Scores on the doors: Nottingham Forest sit third in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 home win over West Ham, with in-form striker Chris Wood scoring his 8th goal of the season. The Reds haven't ended a Premier League weekend in the top three since 1998. Notts County and Mansfield Town both secured passage in the FA Cup second round with wins over Alfreton (5-1) and Curzon Ashton (0-4) respectively. Meanwhile in ice hockey, the Nottingham Panthers won both their Elite League Ice Hockey games over the weekend, beating the Cardiff Devils 3-1 before a shootout win over the Fife Flyers.
