News 🗞️
🗳️ 1-v-1: The general election shenanigans are well underway, and one of the key TV events of these are the debates that bring party leaders together to discuss key issues. The head-to-head debate between PM Rishi Sunak and Labour’s Keir Starmer will take place on June 26 in Nottingham. No word yet on where it will be and if places can be booked, but we’ll keep you posted. bbc.co.uk
🏐 Having a ball: Nottingham Forest has launched a brand new women’s netball team named Nottingham Forest Netball. The English Netball structure has just been overhauled, with the new team invited to join the elite-level Netball Super League when it relaunches in 2025. nottinghamforest.co.uk
🛍️ Music to our ears: If you’re as much of a fan of physical media as we are, you’ll be pleased to hear this news. Music, TV, and film store Fopp will be opening a new store on Bridlesmith Gate this Friday (June 7). Visitors will be able to browse over 4,000 vinyls, 8,000 CDs, and 2,700 Blu-Ray and DVD releases. Book lovers will even be able to snag two books for £7, with over 500 to choose from. westbridgfordwire.com
🥸 Crisp criminal: A thief who stole 17 tubes of Pringles in one go was given a six-month suspended prison sentence at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Adam Spencer was arrested on Tuesday in Sutton-in-Ashfield. His defence to the police when questioned? “Once you pop, you can’t stop.” No, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke — it’s June and very much real! bbc.co.uk
Hot Property 🏡
I’m loving this unusual property, which is a barn that has been converted into a chic four-bedroom home. The main building has an open plan kitchen, snug, and living areas, along with three bedrooms, two of which have en-suites. This has been built for multigenerational living, so it also has an annexe with its own living area, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. From both of these, you can see gorgeous rolling hills over the Wolds both indoors and outdoors. There’s an open day for it on June 9, so if you have the cash/have won the lottery, you can get an appointment and see it for yourself. It’s listed at £1.195m and is marketed by Bentons. rightmove.co.uk
