News 🗞
👠 Belle of the ball: The regency TV show Bridgerton returned last week – and one lucky fan got a taste of the show in Newark. Sarah Taylor travelled with her best friend Hannah Hardy to Newark Town Hall thinking she was going to a first aid course. As part of the facade, Sarah started writing on a whiteboard, before the wall suddenly parted and revealed a Regency-era ball, and an invite to the new season premiere of the show in Paris. What an amazing surprise! bbc.co.uk
🔒 Locked in: Hundreds of unclaimed love locks removed from Wilford Suspension Bridge over the River Trent could soon have a new home. University students in Nottingham have been asked to design a permanent structure for the symbols of love to be displayed. Architecture students from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have until March to come up with new design ideas for the locks to be displayed in public again. Anyone else miss the locks on the bridge? bbc.co.uk
🤩 Buried treasure: A new exhibition has reunited dozens of Anglo‑Saxon artefacts from a Nottinghamshire burial ground for the first time in more than half a century. The 40 excavated discoveries are from the early medieval cemetery at Broughton Lodge in Willoughby-on-the-Wolds. The free exhibition opened on Friday and runs until July 12 at the University of Nottingham Museum at Lakeside Arts. bbc.co.uk / lakesidearts.org.uk
