💸 Sneinton's iconic Green's Windmill is being given nearly £700k in funding for repairs. This will allow it to become fully operational again, fixing the mill sails, machinery, and other parts of the building. It was originally owned by mathematician George Green, who was the first person to create a mathematical theory of electricity and magnetism. The windmill was abandoned in 1862 and was reopened again to the public in the 1980s. Today, you can still go inside it and even purchase the flour that is milled there. Read more on bbc.co.uk.
🪦 Nottinghamshire funeral directors A.W. Lymn has been given the green light to build the UK's first modern barrow site. The handcrafted stone barrows will be set just outside the village of Calverton. Commercial director Pete Clarson told the West Bridgford Wire: “The barrows are more than a place for ashes to be laid to rest. It’s a place where recently bereaved can go to understand their grief, accept their loss, and celebrate a life.” The mock-ups look remarkable, so we're interested to see how the site finishes up. 🏡 We've actually found a home with plenty of luxe features and that isn't too eye-watering in price. The Derby Road Sandiacre period property on Rightmove, listed by Robert Ellis Estate Agents, is a cool £560k. We love its mix of traditional and contemporary features, from its cosy lounge with a log-burning stove to its chic kitchen with a breakfast area and the most glorious oven. It also has three bedrooms, including a master with an ensuite stunning marble-tiled bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower and bathtub with jets. Read more on Rightmove.
⚽ 🏏 Forest is out of the bottom three on goal difference after a much-needed draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mansfield lost 2-0 to Hollywood team Wrexham on Friday, and had its Monday game postponed following a waterlogged pitch. County also suffered a Friday loss, against Swindon Town, but on Monday picked things back up with a 3-3 draw to MK Dons. For those who like a slower-paced game, cricket is officially back at Trent Bridge, with the County Championship starting this Friday, seeing Nottinghamshire play against Essex.
