Step back in time to the days of Robin Hood during this weekend filled with jousts, hand-to-hand combat, and much more. There will also be music and story performances. As well as watching the action-packed shows, you can have a go at axe-throwing and archery, try Medieval-style craft workshops, and shop with traders straight out of the Middle Ages.
Do if: You’d love to go to an exciting event that will transport you to another world.
2. Dot to Dot

How much: £39.38pp
Watch a host of emerging talent, both local and from across the world, at music venues spanning the whole of Nottingham city centre. The headliners include The Horrors, Fat Dog, and Sprints, but I recommend keeping an eye out for local acts Bored Marsh, Catmilk, and Girlband! (there are 70+ Nottingham acts on the roster!).
Do if: Your summer playlist needs a shake-up — there will be plenty of inspiration here.
3. Luminarium: Myriad
When: May 24-June 1
Where: Lakeside Arts, Beeston
How much: £6.50pp
The Architects of Air are presenting a brand new design of their popular luminaries, which are tunnels and domes filled with colour and light. This one will have ‘stars’ in it, with points of light being inserted into the fabric to create a dreamy effect. There are children and family sessions throughout the time it’s there, as well as a grown-ups event on May 29 in the evening.
Do if: You’re looking for a soothing way to spend time — we went to the one last year and can confirm it’s super relaxing.

When: May 27-29
Where: Nottingham Contemporary
How much: Free entry
Explore the themes in Nottingham Contemporary’s new exhibition Your Ears Later Will Know to Listen during these workshops, which will explore sound and memories of sound. The events are drop-in, but the art gallery suggests booking in advance to secure your slot. There are limited tickets as of the time of writing, so I suggest being quick if you’re keen.
