1. Luisa’s Vegan Chocolates
Where: Unit 7, Sneinton Market, NG1 1DT
If you’re looking for something plant-based, Luisa’s award-winning, hand-crafted chocolates might be right up your street. It offers an array of affordable artisan bars (we love the casholate) and higher-end luxurious hampers. As well as this, it has seasonal gems like the matcha Luigi Bunny, which The Observer rated highly in its Easter Egg Test.
If that wasn’t enough, it is also the only chocolate maker in Nottingham that makes all its chocolates from Bean-to-Bar direct sourcing. This means it pays much higher than fair trade prices, so you know by spending that bit extra, your cash is going to a good cause.
Try if: You like your chocolate to be as sustainable as it is scrumptious.

2. Chocolate Utopia
Where: Friar Lane, Nottingham, NG1 6DQ
With the sweet smell of chocolate flowing through the store, Chocolate Utopia is an inviting experience as soon as you walk through the door. This family-run shop has been sharing its yummy products for over 20 years, making it a true Notts choc institution. Just off Old Market Square, it’s a breeze to get to if you’re doing some city centre shopping.
It has over fifty varieties of luxurious chocolate, all made in the kitchen below, so you’re sure to find a flavour you adore. You can also take a seat inside it and enjoy an indulgent hot chocolate whilst you make the big decision of what to select.
Try if: You fancy a sit down in chocolate heaven.

3. Studio Chocolate
Where: Thurland Street, Nottingham, NG1 3DR
Take a stroll down Cobden Chambers in Hockley and you’ll be greeted by the Instagrammable pink store that is Studio Chocolate. Chocolatier Ellie Wharrad and her team create colourful hand-painted chocolates with a wow-factor, baked goods, and the magical Fairytale chocolate bars, to name just a few things.
During Easter, it also offers painted Easter eggs, little eggs, and an Easter Bakery Box, including treasures like passionfruit and lemon truffle eggs which look just like Scotch eggs. We also like the fact it offers a monthly subscription box — The Chocolate Shop — which delivers creations to your door from £20.40.

4. HAPPi Choc
Where: Various locations, based at Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford, NG2 5BL
While you can’t actually pop into a dedicated shop for these, you can grab these West Bridgford-based bars in the likes of WHSmith and Holland and Barrett, which both have local stores. The chocolates are all made from oat milk, and they come in pretty much every format you can imagine.
Bars include flavours such as white chocolate, crunchy cacao nibs, and salted caramel. It also does classic chocolate buttons and rich hot chocolate spoons. For Easter, it has eggs, egg bars, and the cutest little bunny rabbit lollies which shoppers say kids love.
Try if: You want to support a locally-based business while on the go.
5. Deli-Cious Chocolate
Where: The National Justice Museum, High Pavement, Nottingham, NG1 1HN
Did you know that nestled away in The National Justice Museum is an amazing chocolate shop? You do now. Not only can you delve into the chocolates that line the counter, but you can also choose from locally-made cakes. You can even tuck into these together at their afternoon tea, which is just £14 per person.
If you want to learn how to make your own, you can also take up their chocolate-making classes, where you can learn everything from tempering to truffle-making in three hours. Basically, if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at being Willy Wonka, this is the place to do it. We think this would be a super cute Nottingham date idea.
Try if: You want to learn about chocolate as much as you want to eat it.
