3. The Crownless Queen with Elizabeth Chadwick

Where: Bromley House Library, Nottingham
How much: £8pp, seat and book £28pp
Award-winning and bestselling author Elizabeth Chadwick is heading to the gorgeous Bromley House Library to chat about her new novel, The Crownless Queen, on its release date. The book is the much-awaited second novel in the Jeanette of Kent duology, bringing to a conclusion the story of the woman who began life as a royal rebel and ended it behind the throne. Elizabeth will be joined by the author Clare Harvey to talk about this, as well as her writing life and much more.
Do if: You’d like to read more books by local authors – Elizabeth resides in the Vale of Belvoir.
4. Springfolk Market
When: April 12
Where: The Nest, Nottingham
How much: Free entry
Hosted by Hallo Ceramics, this seasonal market will bring together over 45 independent traders. You’ll be able to shop ceramics, prints, woodworks, felting, photography, paintings, jewellery and more, as well as street food vendors offering snacks and the bar pulling pints. The event is free to enter with tickets in advance, with allocated time slots. There are also paid workshops – a springtime mug workshop (£33pp) and tree branch vases (£42.90pp).
Do if: You’d like to get into the swing of the season (yes, it’s hard when it’s on and off rain!) and bring it in onto your outfits and into your home.
5. Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile
When: April 14-18
Where: Theatre Royal, Nottingham
How much: From £22pp
On board a luxurious cruise, a couple’s idyllic honeymoon is cut short by a murder (of course). As secrets that have been buried resurface, can Hercule Poirot (played by Outlander’s Mark Hadfield), untangle the web of lies and solve the crime? Agatha Christie often enjoyed premiering shows at the Theatre Royal, as the crowd was always receptive to new work, so it’s especially excellent that one of her stories is showing here.
Do if: You love a classic whodunnit, and would love to see an iconic show at one of Nottingham’s most iconic venues.

6. The Choral Pilgrimage
When: April 16
Where: Southwell Minster
How much: From £15pp
Exploring music from the Spanish Renaissance and more, The Choral Pilgrimage brings together a collection of remarkable pieces of music under one roof. These include historic pieces by Cristóbal de Morales, who was famed across Europe and the New World, as well as Sebastián de Vivánc, who crafted counterpoint adorned services. Plus, it will feature Kerensa Briggs’ Kindly Light, which was specially commissioned for the show.
