Where to go for New Year’s Eve in Nottingham
By Eve Smallman
1. New Year’s Eve at The Hockley Arts Club
Where: The Hockley Arts Club
How much: £35pp
This is one of the best cocktail bars in Nottingham and is a cosy yet characterful spot for a few tipples on New Year’s Eve. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of prosecco, and you will be given another glass at midnight to toast the new year with. In addition to this, you’ll also get a cocktail included with your ticket and there will be chocolates to dive into. There are slots from 9pm onwards, with all of them letting you stay until closing.
Do if: You’d simply like to have delicious drinks in a relaxing venue.
2. New Year’s Eve Regency Ball
Where: Colwick Hall
How much: £99pp
You are cordially invited into the ancestral home of Lord Byron for a spectacular evening of entertainment. You’ll start the night with canapés and bubbles, before having a luxurious three-course meal in the dining hall. Then, you’ll move to the marquee where you’ll be able to dance the evening away while the clock counts down. The whole event will be topped off with fireworks. The dress code is, of course, black tie, so make sure to don your best ballgowns and tuxes.
Do if: You’ve always loved the idea of a Bridgerton-style night out.
3. New Year’s Eve Hotel Party
Where: The Orchard, Beeston Lane
How much: £99pp, £320pp to include a double bed and breakfast
The elegant Orchard Hotel and Restaurant is a lovely location for a sophisticated soiree. On arrival, you’ll be treated to drinks and gourmet canapés, before you settle down and indulge in a seven-course meal. This has different options to choose from per course, with an amuse bouche, a palette cleanser, meat, fish, and vegetarian options for starters and mains, as well as the choice between sweet treats or cheese and quince for afters. Petit fours will also be served to complete your dining experience.
Do if: You want to entertain your New Year’s guests completely, without having to do any of the hosting or cooking.
4. Gok Wan
Where: Pitcher and Piano
How much: £30.25pp
While you may have seen Gok Wan acting in this year’s Theatre Royal panto, you may not have seen him flexing his DJ skills. He’ll be performing at Pitcher and Piano, which is easy to get to from the train station or if you’re already in town. A lot of the tickets have already sold out, including VIP, so be sure to be quick if you want to see Gok on the decks. If you’re looking for more clubby NYE events, Groovebox is also hosting Sam Divine at The Palais, too.
Do if: You want to ring in the new year by partying the night away.
5. NYE Cocktails and Crime
Where: National Justice Museum
How much: £27.95pp
You may think that it’s still 2024, but step inside the National Justice Museum on New Year’s Eve and you’ll be transported to the swinging sixties. The famous Dungeon Club is closing down, and Mike Rophone, the owner, wants to make sure it goes in style. But then, a tragic accident occurs. Will you be able to solve the mystery? The ticket includes two cocktails or mocktails and access to the whole event, which starts at 8pm promptly and finishes at 10pm.
Do if: You’d like to have some NYE fun, but would also like to be tucked up before midnight.
